达官贵人虔诚供奉为什么大都供奉神灵 Why do high-ranking officials and nobles mostly worship deities with great devotion?

近日云游，一善信问我说师父你说这个人这一辈子赚多少钱是不是注定的？早赚了很多钱未必是件好事？我是这么回答的：“你是怎么知道你这辈子注定该多少的呢？有时候你财运很好，也参与了招财法事，招来的财运都是额外的钱财，这是额外的财。有时候你运势不好，财运不行，本来是你的财，但是却因为有冤亲债主拦路索债，把本该是你的给截胡截走了，那本来是你的财可是现在没有到你手里。”

Recently, while traveling, a devout follower asked me, “Master, do you believe that the amount of money a person earns in their lifetime is predestined? And is earning a lot of money early on necessarily a good thing?” This is how I responded:

“How do you know what is predestined for you in this lifetime? Sometimes, you may have very good financial luck, and you participate in wealth-attracting rituals, and the wealth that comes to you is extra—it’s an additional fortune. At other times, when your luck is not favorable, even though wealth is supposed to be yours, it can be blocked or intercepted by karmic creditors or enemies seeking repayment. What was originally meant to be your fortune is now no longer in your hands.”

那有钱有势的人为什么信命的这么多？为什么不仅信，还这么大排场去供奉神灵？到底是什么在保佑自己？

Why do wealthy and powerful people believe in fate so much? Why do they not only believe but also go to great lengths to worship deities with grand ceremonies? What exactly is protecting them?

老君在《道德经》里讲，高下相倾。没到过高处的人不知道低是有多低，有了高低之分，在一个机缘下，知道了，哦这高低，跟自己努力有关，但也有命运在里面，也跟自己看不到的磁场能量有关，这个时候开始认识到灵界力量的重要。诸君要知道，什么是富贵，什么是权贵？富和贵一言以蔽之，无非支配二字，你能支配多少人和物，你就是有多少权力和钱财。富人，贵人最擅支配，知道灵界力量，能不想着怎么去支配么？怎么去把这个力量纳为己用则是开悟之后的第二个命题。

In the Tao Te Ching, Laozi talks about the concept of “high and low influencing each other”. Those who have never been to a high place don’t realize how low the low place truly is. Once the distinction between high and low is made, it becomes clear, “Oh, this high and low is related to my efforts, but there’s also destiny involved. It’s also connected to invisible magnetic forces and energies.” At this point, one begins to understand the importance of spiritual forces.

Everyone should understand this: What is wealth and power? Wealth and power, in a nutshell, come down to control—how much you can control people and things. The wealthiest and most powerful are the best at controlling. They understand the power of the spiritual world; how can they not think about how to use this power to control it? The second key question after enlightenment is how to harness this spiritual power and make it your own.

那怎么用呢？是用什么呢？一般来说，能成大事者必有高仙相随。一路护佑扶持，这是佛经道经不讲的事实。当然我们不可能说有香火就都是供的仙家，但供佛或者供道家各位爷，都是需要仙家去执行的，你有什么诉求，和爷说，爷看你挺诚心，要求也不过分，然后安排仙家帮你完成心愿。这些仙家有的是保护家人平安的，有的是给招财的，灵界有职位，各职位负责的事情不同，想让这个组织顺利运转起来，必须要事先立堂之时就把这个庞大的组织安排明白。

So, how can one use this power? What is it that can be used? Generally speaking, those who achieve great things always have high-level immortals (or spiritual beings) by their side, offering protection and support along the way. This is a fact that is not explicitly discussed in Buddhist or Taoist scriptures, but it is nonetheless true.

Of course, we can’t claim that every incense offering is necessarily directed to immortals, but when you offer to Buddha or Taoist deities, it is the immortal beings who carry out the requests. If you have a certain wish, you communicate it to the deity, and if the deity sees that you are sincere and your request is not excessive, the immortal will be assigned to fulfill your wish. These immortals may be responsible for protecting your family’s safety, bringing wealth, or fulfilling other specific tasks.

The spiritual world operates in various positions, and each position handles different responsibilities. To make this system work smoothly when establishing a spiritual organization (or “temple”), one must carefully arrange this vast network of immortal beings to ensure that each has their designated role and responsibilities.

所以我们之前写过很多堂没供明白的，无非都是出在，没有明白这个道理。为什么有人供神明就灵，有的就不灵。执行层没理清楚怎么帮你实现心愿？喊破喉咙没有执行的，不可能爷这么大身段因为你家长里短自己亲自跑。九天玄女亲授三式，那是炎黄两大部落逐鹿中原战未休。邱真人亲自跑的，那是国家民族层面的事情，然后成吉思汗化胡向汉。你这今天想求财，明天两口子打架，指望爷亲自来帮你处理，那是不现实的。

So, what we’ve written about many times before regarding temples or altars that haven’t been properly established is simply because the underlying principle wasn’t understood. The reason some people experience divine responses when they worship and others don’t is that the execution layer has not been properly arranged to fulfill your wishes. If there is no proper execution, no matter how loudly you shout, it is impossible for the deity to personally intervene in your everyday affairs. Deities with immense spiritual stature are not going to personally handle your trivial family matters.

For example, when The Nine Heavens Mysterious Woman teaches the three methods, that was during the intense struggle between the Yan and Huang tribes for dominance in the Central Plains. Master Qiu personally intervened—that was on the national and ethnic level, something much grander. When Genghis Khan sought to conquer the Hu and unite the Han, it was a matter of historical scale. But if today you want to ask for wealth, and tomorrow you’re fighting with your spouse, expecting a deity to personally resolve such issues is unrealistic.

那供奉了神明之后，保的是什么？有的家庭，两口子都是二婚命，但是两口子确实一起白头到老。有的人成就确实很好，但是有的年份是牢狱，但是只是去走了个过场，证据不足，不了了之。有的人是到了不利的流年，本该命有一劫，但是无事发生。不管是生命、身体健康、财官、家庭，其实供奉的这个保家仙堂都是有帮助到善信弟子的。

So, after worshiping deities, what exactly are they protecting? In some families, both partners may have a “second marriage” destiny, but they end up growing old together. Some individuals achieve great success, but there are years when they face imprisonment. However, in these cases, it’s just a brief experience—a formality, with insufficient evidence, and the matter fades away. Others face unfavorable years, a period when their fate usually takes a turn for the worse, yet nothing happens.

Whether it’s life, health, wealth, career, or family, the protection provided by the Household Deities or Guardian Immortals indeed plays a role in helping and guiding the faithful practitioners. The deities assist in ensuring that despite the challenges and potential setbacks that life presents, the believer is supported, guided, and protected through it all. The protection isn’t about eliminating every challenge, but about ensuring that the believer has the strength, wisdom, and support to overcome obstacles and continue on their path with resilience.

这也就导致了一个问题，就是有一些达官贵人的命是根本算不准的，我们看网上有一些断流年八字的，讲哪个哪个名人命中哪年怎样怎样，攀龙附会之词！命理不需要事后诸葛亮招摇过市，需要的是真正为善信防患于未然。

This leads to a problem: some high-ranking officials and nobles have fates that simply cannot be accurately predicted. Online, many fortune tellers analyze the “annual cycles” or Ba Zi (Eight Characters), making predictions about certain celebrities’ fates in particular years, often with claims of how their destiny unfolds. These are just idle speculations and attempts to attach themselves to famous figures.

所以这些经历了高下，经历了光辉和惨淡之后的贵人们，为了保护自己来之不易的基业，为了让自己好运之时能得到更多的神助，为了让自己背运之时能顺利度过，也愿意去按最高的标准，用最虔诚的心去供奉神明。

福生无量天尊！
